THE YOUNG DRIVER

This site contains many resources for the young driver and his/her parents. It explains the different types of licenses and the restrictions for drivers under the age of 18. Regulations for acquiring learners’ permits and restrictions for driving with a junior license are clearly outlined based on the region of New York State in which you will be driving.

The site also contains a video overview of the new Graduated License Law that took effect on February 22, 2010 as well as many teen driver safety videos that focus on speed, distractions, inexperience, and seat belts. The site contains a link to a New York State driver’s manual and study guide, which includes a quiz on each topic presented in the guide. This section will help students prepare for their permit. It also includes road test tips that explain how to schedule a road test, the required documentation that must be brought to a road test, and important safe driving tips to successfully pass a road test.
